DIY Kimono, Part Two

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my first proper DIY post.
I thought I would show you what my kimono looked like on. At first I felt a bit like a wizard with long purple robes on, but styled with a little cream dress and Litas it looked much more muggle like J It was very windy today, so thats why the fringing is all crazy in most of the pictures.
The cream dress is very old from H and M, I always think it looks a little bit like a nightie. The gold filigree ring was my latest eBay find.
Almost the end of the week J

DIY Burnout Fringe Kimono

Buy two burnout velvet scarfs form ebay for £12 each, I picked the purple one but there are a range of colours
Pin the edges of both the scarfs together length ways and then sew half way, then drape over each shoulder and pin the length you want the arm holes, you basically sew up sections of all the edges

Finally sew from the fringing up the edges to create arm holes, and TADA, you have a burnout fringe kimono top
Spanish Moss

Left, American Gold

I have wanted a fringed kimono for ages now, but have found it really hard to find them in the UK and the vintage ones from America are often over £100!
When I found you could buy burnout scarfs with fringing on the bottom I couldn’t believe my luck. Sew them together and 5 mins later you have a kimono that has cost just £24 J its very simple to do, if anyone has any questions please leave a comment.
What do you think ?

Unexpected

Asymmetric Vest, Boohoo
Slip, Topshop
Boots, JC Pixies
Jacket, Farhi by Nicole Farhi
Belt, Billabong

I have just got back from Bristol, after going there to see a friend at UniJ. I’m now very tired and have a Sunday shift at work. I have also began to panic about how little money I will have at uni, I will have to stop buying clothes and start saving.
Anyway, this is an outfit I wore a few days ago J This lovely jacket is in fact my mum’s (she lets me borrow it, lucky me) for me this linen biker jacket is the summer version of winters aviator. The asymmetric top is another find from Boohoo, (I got it at the same time as this maxi dress) it’s nice and simple, a great basic throw on top.
I love mixing clothes from different price points and shops, Nicole Farhi and Boohoo, such an unexpected combination!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend J

Spectacle

Glasses , H and M
Top, Topshop
Shorts, Asos
Earring, Dorothy Perkins

Such a great day, I spent it outside, (that’s why me feet are all grubby, not because I don’t wash) doing bits of art, jewellery making and taking loads of posey pictures J
I bought these sunglasses a few days ago from H and M, I think they were about £5 so I was really pleased.
The top is a VERY old Topshop sale find; I love the Aztec ish print. Hope you all had fun in the sun!

16' Degrees

Crochet Dress, South at Very.com
Leather Waiscoat, Primark
Boots, Jeffrey Campbell Climber
Necklace, Low Luv
Ring, YSL Arty

Today has been the warmest day of the year so far, I have actually sat outside with no jacket on for over 30 minutes... I haven’t been able to do that for a while!
This Crochet dress was a find from Very.com, I don’t normally shop there but found I quite liked some things from a range they stock called South.
It’s quite a simple outfit really, I grunged up the dress a bit by teaming it with heavy chunky boots, and a leather waistcoat. As it gets warmer I will be wearing it with little sandals, lots of jewellery and not much else.
I went a bit crazy on eBay today to bought a few rings :S luckily they weren’t too much money, I can’t wait till they all arrive.
